WCEDA LOAN PROGRAM


Are you having trouble getting a loan? Are your revenues under $1 million? WCEDA may be able to HELP. We have a loan program through the USDA for small businesses called the HometownEntrepreneur Loan Program (HELP) that aims to help small business access capital. Many times we can work with banks or other programs like SBA or WHEDA to make a loan work for companies.

EIDL BORROWERS TO RECEIVE PAYMENT DEFERMENT


This deferment extension is effective for all COVID-EIDL Loans approved in calendar years 2020, 2021, and 2022. Loans now have a total deferment of 30 months from the date of the Note. Interest will continue to accrue on the loans during the deferment.

MAIN STREET BOUNCEBACK GRANTS - OPEN UNTIL JUNE '22


The Main Street Bounceback Grants program provides $10,000 to new or existing businesses and non-profit organizations moving into vacant properties in Wisconsin’s downtowns and commercial corridors. Funds can be used to pay leases or mortgages, operational expenses and other business costs related to the newly opened location. WCEDA is willing to write letters on behalf of local businesses. MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET - LITTLE KNOWN NEW TAX CREDIT


New law extends COVID tax credit for employers who keep workers on payroll. The Internal Revenue Service urges employers to take advantage of the newly-extended employee retention credit, designed to make it easier for businesses that, despite challenges posed by COVID-19, choose to keep their employees on the payroll. Quick overview:


  1. Measurement is on a quarter-by-quarter basis 2019 vs 2021
  2. Need 20% reduction in gross sales
  3. If guidelines are met, then 70% of employees quarterly wage to a max of 7,000 per employee per quarter
  4. Can include health benefits from employer in calculating gross wages up to 10(K)
  5. Credit is immediate on 941
  6. Can receive this credit even if PPP draws have been taken
  7. 501(c)3 and 501(c)6 non-profits are eligible.

COVID-19 FEDERAL RURAL RESOURCE GUIDE


USDA and its Federal partners have programs that can be used to provide immediate and long-term assistance to rural communities affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. These programs can support recovery efforts for rural residents, businesses and communities through: technical, training, and management assistance, financial assistance, and state and local assistance.

ATTENTION ALL INVESTORS - OPPORTUNITY ZONES ARE HERE


Former Gov. Scott Walker approved 120 zones across 40 counties in rural and urban parts of the state, two of which are in Walworth County in the City of Whitewater. The Wisconsin Economic Development Association reported that the program “is designed to drive long-term investment to low-income communities by providing investors with certain tax incentives when they re-invest unrealized capital gains in designated Opportunity Zones.”

FREE WI Digital Job Board

WCEDA has a strong relationship with all the schools in Walworth County, so we want to make you aware of an opportunity that the Elkhorn School District is offering. At this time, this is a FREE service for businesses, so give it a try!

 

The Elkhorn Area School District has recently partnered with numerous school districts to launch a digital Jobs board for our community that allows students, parents, and families full access to local jobs. This service will allow quick and direct access to local employment vacancies, ensure our employers have a free location to post their vacancies and Youth Apprenticeship needs and allow the school district, local employers, and other employment and economic agencies to collaboratively fill the Walworth County employment pipeline.
